The Fifth of Jamadi-Ul-Awal is marked by Muslims worldwide as the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zainab (SA), the daughter of Hazrat Ali (AS) and granddaughter of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Known for her unwavering courage and compassion, Hazrat Zainab (SA) is celebrated for her pivotal role in preserving the message of the Karbala martyrs, particularly following the tragic Battle of Karbala, where she witnessed the martyrdom of her brother, Imam Hussein (AS), and many other family members.
In honor of her legacy, this day is also recognized as Nurses’ Day in Iran, commemorating the tireless dedication and compassion of nurses, who, much like Hazrat Zainab (SA), stand as pillars of support for the vulnerable.
After the tragedy at Karbala, Hazrat Zainab (SA) safeguarded the lone surviving male, Imam Zayn al-Abidin (AS), and boldly took on the mission to counteract the false narratives and misrepresentation of the events by the ruling powers. Even in captivity, she delivered powerful speeches in the cities of Kufah, and in the palaces of both Ibn Ziyad and Yazid, illuminating the truth for the people and inspiring future generations with her resilience and wisdom.
Her exemplary strength continues to inspire millions worldwide, standing as a testament to the enduring power of faith and conviction.
