Sayyid Abdul Razzaq Jilani, the 4th Sultan ul Faqr, was the son of Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani. He inherited Faqr both through lineage and his efforts. Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani passed all his spiritual knowledge and powers to him, making him a mirror image of his father.
Birth:
Sultan ul Faqr 4th was born in 528 Hijri (1133 AD) in Baghdad. His father, Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani, raised him and spiritually trained him. He also gained knowledge from contemporary scholars.
Attributes:
Sayyid Abdul Razzaq Jilani, was known for his humility, piety, mysticism, and dedication to prayer. He avoided worldly pleasures, focused on the hereafter, and shared knowledge through sermons and lectures. Many disciples became great scholars under his guidance. Ibn Kathir praised him as the most learned and accomplished among Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani’s sons.
Level of Divine Love:
In a famous book about Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani, a story is told about his son, Sultan ul Faqr 4th, Sayyid Abdul Razzaq Jilani. During a sermon, Shaikh Abdul Qadir spoke about special people filled with so much love for Allah that their clothes and crowns burned with passion. Abdul Razzaq, sitting nearby, looked up at the sky and saw heavenly people burning with love for Allah, dancing and making loud sounds. He felt the same love, and his own cloak and turban caught fire. Shaikh Abdul Qadir put out the fire and told him he was one of those special people.
Death:
The exact date of Sultan ul Faqr 4th death is debated, with some sources citing 571 Hijri and others 603 Hijri. His tomb near Baab-e-Haram in Baghdad has been lost to the Tigris River. He compiled Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani’s lectures in Jila-ul-Khawatir and passed the Trust of Faqr to his grandson, Sayyid Abdul Jabbar Jilani.
